Age of the Zombie

My Prediction Zombies are going to be the new "Vampires"

Of course just like many other people (girls) recently I to had to see the newest Twilight movie, Breaking Dawn part 2 the final conclusion to the saga.  One of my favourite things about going to the movies is the trailers before the show.  To my surprise (a good surprise) there were TWO! zombie movie trailers. I couldn't believe it, first one was Warm Bodies which is a book that was published in 2011 by Isaac Marion, and is now going to be a feature film set to be released February 1st 2013.  It's a story about a zombie that falls in love with a human, and learns to presumably love again (oh my doesn't that seem familiar) the trailer though is really cute so you should definitely give it a watch. Warm Bodies is now on my book wishlist for sure, along with another one that is similar in the zombie love theme called Dearly Departed by Lia Habel published in 2011. Dearly Departed seems to be not only a zombie-esq book but also kind of steam-punk themed as well, because it is set in the future yet the main character is supposedly a young Victorian lady (that's steam-punkie right?)

The Other movie trailer I saw was World War Z. Also set to be released June 21st 2013, and is also a book published in 2006 by Max Brooks.  I was going to buy this book quite a few months back, but then I sort of forgotten about it till after seeing the movie trailer at the Breaking Dawn part 2 movie.
At first the trailer almost seems like a regular war movie then you get to see a horde of zombies cluster together to try and scale a huge wall. So then your like oh! I get it now its zombies silly me thinking it was a regular ol' end of the world movie.  The movie to me looks really interesting seems like it'll be a good action/suspense movie that I'm really looking forward to seeing.  Also Brad Pitt is in this one which is pretty darn awesome.

There is also the extremely popular show out now called The Walking Dead which aired in 2010- and is still ongoing.  That show is more scary in a more gory and also a psychological way. The Walking Dead of course started out as a comic book which I'm sure all of you know already it was published in 2003 by Robert Kirkman (a veteran in this new era of zombie) and is currently on vol 17. I do think that this series in particular was the start of the zombie craze that is now infecting every media outlet.

There is now a Walking Dead video game which was released in April 2012 you can download it and I believe purchase it in disc form in December, that follows more of the comic book world. It even has comic book like art work as the design.  Now there seems to be another Walking Dead video game in production, but this one follows Daryl (the shows fan favourite) and Merle (his grumpy unsocial brother). They are both from the TV series and the game is before they met "the group".  Not much as of yet is really released for that game other than a teaser trailer.  Many other new video games are coming out like ZombieU for the WiiU (still not sure what I think of the WiiU yet) that was just recently released the game is a first person shooter. It has been getting quite a few positive reviews though which is nice.

In my opinion the whole zombie thing is AWESOME! I love everything to do with supernatural and fantasy, but I guess I do worry that it to may get over done like in Twilight's case. Now vampires kinda seem like a joke which is a shame because there are so many great vampire films out there and video games and books. Not that Twilight is necessarily a horrible book series but it did bring a certain attention back to vampires again. That attention being both positive and negative all at once. The vampire theme will die out again, its a natural thing for all themes in media. Zombies are already hugely popular so did they already replace "vampires"? For creatures that horde together and destroy all human life around them. They did a good job just sneaking on by under our nose. With great timing as well with the end of the vampire age. But do you think zombies will end up just like vampires and not seem scary anymore? Because of this zombie love theme now coming out in books and movies?
